American Standard Company is headquarting in the State of New Jersey. Its basic production - the sanitary engineering for manufacturing which the company has productive capacities in 103 countries of the world. In American Standard work 60000 people, its incomes last year made 7,5 bln. dollars, 43 % of that was not from inside the US.

Having as a target to make more income and low the costs, the company has decided to rebuild it's structure for woring with employees for more effective use of it's capabilities. On American Standard order KnowledgePool company(US) created a Talent Management System(TMS), web application for managing employees training. The pupose of this system is provide employees and managers with abilities to evaluate their skills, define education perspectives and connect their motives with company aims.

To estimate employees before and after training TMS uses a "scorecard" - tool that gives ability to connect directly an employee development and his(hers) financial level.
This software block lets giving a startup employee estimate, plan his(hers) dynamics and further development. With TMS and "scorecard" help American Standard company had unified an approach to employees, it's abilities and also to resources that are neccessary for directing employees development to getting results correspondent to business aims.

Managing employees training goes in three steps:


Step 1. Basic skills and competence estimate with "scorecard" and it's influence on business results. This estimates are compared with other companies'. Recomendation for bettering are given.

Step 2. Basing on recomandations that were worked out during Step 1 goes education process with TMS.

Step 3. To record employees characteristics and infrastructure changes a "scorecard" is used again. Addition recomendations are working out. On this step a further personal development planning goes with a help from educational resources bound with actual competences of American Standard employees.

Competences library for TMS was developed by KnowledgePool company in conjunction with American Standard first vice-president on personnel issues. It helped to build a set of personnel competences according to targets and values of American Standard.

Using this new system American Standard Company had clear vision of it's personnel strong and weak sides before starting an education. The next step was actions plan development and getting some measurable results.

In this case the results appeared not only in employees characteristics but also in a good
sales volume increase which hit the company record 5% for the last year.
